Here are my less-than-elegant gnocchis. Hey, they are my first attempt; I made them from scratch. Although they were ok, I think I will skip the egg this particular recipe called for and use some ground pine nuts in the next batch. If you have any tips on making the perfect gnocchi, I’d like to hear from you.
Someone’s Front Yard
Driving west on a random street in Phoenix, Arizona, these grasses waving in the late afternoon sunset caught my eye and so became today’s Photo of the Day.
Prickly Pear
Late August, the Prickly Pear cactus is full of fruit here in Phoenix, Arizona. These dark red fruits are used for coloring drinks and making prickly pear syrup, candies, and jellies. The javelina eats the pads of the prickly pear, thorns, and all, while we humans call them Nopales and only eat them while they are young and have been de-thorned. Driving through Phoenix, you will see these cacti throughout the area.
Bangles
On a counter, hung on a piece of pottery made by and given to us as a gift by Arturo Silva Jr., are Caroline’s bangles. Caroline has gotten bangles from friends, various shops and events in Arizona, and while shopping in Little India in Los Angeles, California.
Grandfather at Barbershop
My grandfather Herbert Kurchoff helped me pick up our car from the mechanic today, and along the way, we stopped for lunch and a quick haircut for him. A couple of days ago, we delivered more pictures to use in a screensaver he enjoys watching; he now has 1203 photos from Caroline and me to view.
$6 Fan Stops Progress
This little turquoise fan that costs a mere $6 stopped me from upgrading from my old P3 800Mhz to Caroline’s retired P4 2.8Ghz, as no local store carries anything like it. Finally, after too much time wasted, I found a link to the manufacturer’s replacement part. Tonight, I posted this entry with the new PC, and I am as happy as a clam.
